We are more than conquerors through him who loved us. Romans 8:37 NIV
Whether it is a team sport, individual sport, a spelling contest, or a raffle drawing, we all want to win! We eagerly hope our numbers are called, our names are announced, and the trophy is handed to our team.
We don’t put those hours into practicing or improving our skills because we want to lose. We plan for, work for and seek victory!
The great news is in our walk with Jesus, He has already won. His life, death, burial, and resurrection have defeated the enemy, routed the enemy, stomped all over the enemy, and won for us the victory. His victory is our victory! Hallelujah! We don’t have to seek victory, we just have to live in victory.
Have you ever played a game and before it started the other team conceded to you the win? Perhaps, they didn’t have enough people to make an ‘official’ team, so they gave you the victory but you still went on to play the game anyway. As you play that conceded game the pressure is off because you already have the win. You still use your skills, hone your abilities and tune up your strategies but you know the outcome, you’ve won!
Our walk with Jesus should be free from that pressure of trying to get a victory because we have the victory. It should be free of that stressed-filled tension asking will I overcome the enemy, will I be victorious?
Romans 8:37 reminds us we are more than conquerors, read that again, more than! The same verse in another version says overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us, read that again, overwhelming victory!
Whatever battle you are facing today, Jesus has won the victory and so have you. Live in the victory! The agony of defeat belongs to the enemy! Hallelujah.
Father God, Thank You for our victory through Jesus! Thank You that we do not have to live defeated lives, Your victory has made us winners. We are victorious because Jesus is triumphant! Help us to live in Your truth, Your victory, Your Name, today and always, in Your victorious Name we pray, Amen.
Overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us. Romans 8:37 NLT
