No weapon formed against you shall prosper, And every tongue which rises against you in judgment You shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, And their righteousness is from Me,” Says the LORD. Isaiah 54:17 NKJV
A target is a mark to shoot at, something to attack. A target area is not just a single point designated for the attack but a more expansive region. Attacks can be either positive or negative.
If we decide to clean up litter in our community we designate a block or street to be our target area and then the discarded trash becomes the target. Flabby stomach muscles can be a target area for exercise to build firmer abs. Those are positive targets and attacks.
Bullies attack people in their weaknesses, those are negative attacks. The target area is one’s mind and the target is their perceived weakness. They often begin with name-calling; ‘shorty, nerd, worthless, stupid, fatso, tattle-tale, teacher’s pet, liar, weirdo, creepo.’
The biggest bully of all is satan. The biggest name-caller of all is satan. Revelation 12:10 reminds us he is accusing us day and night. He has targeted our weaknesses and his target area is our minds.
Bullies and satan are ineffective against people that are confident.
When we know whose we are and who we are in Christ Jesus, the enemy is ineffective. He may shoot a flaming arrow of name-calling at us but the helmet of salvation covers our minds. The breastplate of righteousness covers our heart, the belt of truth buckles in our innermost being, and the sandals of peace let us walk restfully. Then we lift up the shield of faith against that fiery arrow sending it back to where it came from wielding the sword of the spirit, HIS WORD, speaking His truth over our lives and the enemy is ineffective.
Will you join me in rendering the enemy ineffective by declaring who we are and whose we are?
Father God, thank You that we are Your children, thank You that You are our King, thank You that our value is placed on what You say about us and what You have done for us. You gave Your Son up for us, You thought we were worth saving, You thought we were worth dying for, You gave it all. Help us to live today knowing we are loved by the Creator of the Universe, and You are faithful to provide all that we need. Forgive us for thinking less of ourselves. We pray this all in Your Name, Jesus. Amen.
Since he did not spare even his own Son but gave him up for us all, won’t he also give us everything else? Romans 8:32 NLT
