In the 1920’s a doctor presented the public with his theory that animals respond to a dangerous situation with one of two responses; fight or flight (running from the situation). This theory was then adapted also as a natural human response, our flesh’s response.
The Bible clearly tells us to ignore our flesh neither fighting or fleeing but standing in the midst of our battles.
When our jobs are threatened, marriages attacked, hearts broken, false accusations made, bank accounts emptied, we stand. We are not to run, hide, defend, retaliate, lash out or attack others, we stand.
Our battles are not against our boss, family, co-workers, or even someone in the fellowship. The battle is against principalities and powers and Jesus has already won the battle. He won it at the cross.
Exodus 14:14 remind us He fights for us, we need only to be still.
Romans 12:19 reminds us that vengeance belongs to the Lord, not us. He will avenge the situation.

Ephesians 6:10-17 ‘Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.’
Father God, thank you that we do not have to run, hide or fight. We need only to stand on Your victory, Your Word, character and faithfulness. Thank you Lord Jesus, in Your Name we pray. Amen.
