Fight or Flight

In the 1920’s a doctor presented the public with his theory that animals respond to a dangerous situation with one of two responses; fight or flight (running from the situation).  This theory was then adapted also as a natural human response, our flesh’s response.

The Bible clearly tells us to ignore our flesh neither fighting or fleeing but standing in the midst of our battles.

When our jobs are threatened, marriages attacked, hearts broken, false accusations made, bank accounts emptied, we stand.  We are not to run, hide, defend, retaliate, lash out or attack others, we stand.

Our battles are not against our boss, family, co-workers, or even someone in the fellowship.  The battle is against principalities and powers and Jesus has already won the battle.  He won it at the cross.

Exodus 14:14 remind us He fights for us, we need only to be still.

Romans 12:19 reminds us that vengeance belongs to the Lord, not us.  He will avenge the situation.
