DECISION MAKING

Isaiah 30:21 ‘And your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, “This is the way, walk in it,” when you turn to the right or when you turn to the left.’

Is your dream to start a cupcake business of the Lord?
Does the Lord want you to uproot your family from all they have ever known and move them across the country to take a promotion?
Does the Lord want you to take a position with less pay but would serve more people?
Is this the person your friend just introduced you to someone you are supposed to get to know and perhaps marry?
Do you buy a shiny new car or a well-loved used car?
Is watching a television show, playing a video game, or checking your social media likes stamped with His approval?

I think each of us asks the Lord every day ‘what do you want me to do Lord?’ We want His will for us because we know His will is best for us. We know living in His will brings us joy, peace, and victory. We know not being in His will opens the door to ugly, hurtful, stressful, and exhausting consequences. So we seek Him for His will and we find His will in His Word.

Sure the Bible doesn’t say ‘yes buy the used Toyota, ‘ but it does say Psalm 32:8 ‘ I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my eye upon you.’ ESV

Proverbs 12:15 reminds us a wise person listens to advice and nobody has better advice than God! God will often use other believers to affirm your leadings or correct any wrong-thinking. Ask others to pray with you in seeking His will.

Pride says ‘I can figure it out on my own.’ Proverbs 14:12 warns us there is a way that seems right to a man but leads to death. Seek Godly counsel.

Staying in His Word helps us discern His voice and His will. Romans 12:2 reminds us that as our minds are transformed by His Word we will be able to discern His good, perfect and pleasing will. His Word may not specifically address the choice before you but His Spirit through His Word will lead you.

Father God, thank You that Your Word tells us to ask and You will answer, seek and we will find, knock and the door will open (Matthew 7:7-8). Open the doors in our life that are of You and close all doors that are not of You. We only want Your will, Lord Jesus, Your good, pleasing and perfect will. Thank You, Lord Jesus, in Your loving Name, we pray. Amen.

James 1:5 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him. ESV
