‘Ready or not, here I come,’ you yell, and off you scamper to find your hiding friends or siblings. They may be hiding under the bed, behind a door, under a table, blanket, or in the shower but you will find them. You are a good seeker! Are you a good hider too? Where do you like to hide? Behind the couch cushions? In a closet? Maybe in the dog’s crate?
Hide and Seek is a great game, easily played indoors or outdoors. You can play with one other person or many. You can count to 10 or 100. It is always a family favorite at our house.
Do you know who wants you to seek and find Him? Jesus! He isn’t really hiding but because He’s invisible sometimes He feels like we don’t know He is there and He wants us to be aware of Him.
- Matthew 7:7 says ‘seek, and you will find.’
- James 4:8 tells us ‘draw near to God and He will draw near to you.’
- Jeremiah 29:13 ‘You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.’
What great truths for us to know! If we seek Him, we WILL find Him. If we seek after God, the creator of the universe, the lover of your soul, the good, good Father, the One for who nothing is impossible, we will find Him!
If we draw near to Him in prayer, in song, in studying His Word, He WILL draws near to us. Have you ever wanted someone to come along beside you and just be close to you? Maybe put their arm around you? He may be invisible but you will know He is there drawing near to you from the peace in your heart when you draw near to Him.
Oh, young friend, He is longing for you to find Him, in your heart, your mind, your home, your activities. He is there waiting, will you tell Jesus ‘ready or not here I come?’ He is ready, very ready to love on you with an everlasting, amazing love.
Father God, thank You that You are always with us and we are never alone. Thank You that You always see us and what we are going through. Thank You that You can make it all okay, better than okay. May we turn to You and see You, loving us. Thank You Jesus, in Your Name, we pray, amen.
